Hi there,

I'm having troubles importing a srt file into premiere. The file was created in premiere, exported as a srt file and then I changed the lines into another language. When I try to import the new srt file back to premiere it crashes.

Can you please help me with that?

Thanks.

changed the lines into another language

How? It must be saved as a true text file - if you saved in word or similar, even as a text file, it may contain special characters that PR won't import.

Also, pasting some characters or making formatting errors can cause issues.

Normally, PR will just import incorrectly, for example, stopping the captions at the first problem. The crash suggests a larger issue.

It might help for you to paste the first few lines of the file here.

Thanks Stan,

I worked on a srt file created directly from Premiere in a different language (English), then I simply translated to the language I needed, Italian.

Here's the first lines:

1
00:00:21,125 --> 00:00:22,333
Cosa siamo?

2
00:00:22,708 --> 00:00:25,250
Abitanti di questa terra,

3
00:00:25,250 --> 00:00:27,291
una minuscola parte tra le tante

4
00:00:27,291 --> 00:00:29,208
creature dello spazio infinito.

5
00:00:30,083 --> 00:00:32,750
Le nostre menti abbracciano l'Infinito,

6
00:00:33,333 --> 00:00:36,375
il meccanismo visibile del nostro essere

I was able to import both files. I forgot to ask what version of PR you are running. I tested in the current release 15.2 (PR 2021 - the new caption workflow) and 14.9 (PR 2020).

What version are you running?

Try creating a new project, and import both srts there. Do they work?
