Importing .srt subtitles (Premiere Pro 14.9 and earlier)

I'm trying to import .srt subtitles into a HD project

Unfortunately, they appear very small, and once scaled up they appear pixelated.

Is there a way to:

- Import them in a larger size?

- Resize and change formatting on all subs without having to adjust each line individually?

Open the caption stream in the Caption Panel. Select all (either right click, "select all," or click first caption/shift click last). Change font.

Do not upscale in effect settings.

Or in the Caption Panel, select Import Settings before importing. Set override there.

I assume you are using Open Captions?

Hi Stan!

I'm trying to import a .srt captions file but Premiere error message says: The file has no audio or video atreams.

Do you know how to fix that?

My Premiere Pro 2020 is version 14.9

I'm using a MacBook Pro 2019 / Mac OS Catalina - 10.15

Thanks!

What file extension does the file have? It does not sound like a valid .srt.

Can you paste the first 6 lines of the file here in a post?

Stan, just fixed the problem: I've upgraded to Premiere 2021 and it has new features for subtitles and let me import that .srt file.

Thanks a lot!!! 😉👍🏻

Hi, I have the same exact problem but no matter what I choose in Import Settings, my imported SRT open caption file looks different from what the original file was. Any help?

The import settings overrides the file settings. I think, from your other thread, that you are trying to get .srt file for another person to use. So overriding the settings on import is not gong to help.
