Joining a clip's reversed speed equivalent to make the clip hold?

I'm trying to make a wide shot hold longer to transition into a next scene. All subjects are static for the most part. 

Now what I'd like to do is reverse the clip and attach it on the end of the original so that I get a few extra seconds out of the shot however you can tell from one subject who moves there head slightly that the shot is reversed. Would there be a way to smoothen this out? Ideally the subject moves his head slightly, we hold for a couple frames, and we reverse without it being noticed.

Try the Morph Cut transition. A shorter transition time usually works better than a longer one.
