Major freezing and editing problems

The new update has made editing extremelly tedious and frustrating. All of the panels I use to edit are freezing and becoming unresponsive, especially the Effect Controls panel. The grapics and effects drop down arrows refuse to work, so I cant do any color grading or editing of text boxes. Also, the "snap" tool on the timeline sequence is not working, no matter if I hit "S" or toggle it on and off in preferences. I saw a previous submission that suggested deleteing the audio of a nested sequence to fix the snapping problem, and it worked for a few minutes then reverted back to not snapping. 

I have done a hard re-set of my preferences and reverted everything to default with no luck, and have done all hardware updates on my computer.

I am hoping there is an easy fix for this!

Try deleting the entire nested clips.
