MOV files showing as green

In PP 14.9 MOV files work fine.  In v15 they show up as green.  I had a similar issue a few years back and am surprised to see it again.  I have an old MacPro:

Model Name: Mac Pro

  Model Identifier: MacPro6,1

Processor Name: 8-Core Intel Xeon E5

  Processor Speed: 3 GHz

  Number of Processors: 1

  Total Number of Cores: 8

L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB

  L3 Cache: 25 MB

  Hyper-Threading Technology: Enabled

  Memory: 16 GB

  System Firmware Version: 427.0.0.0.0

  SMC Version (system): 2.20f18

Any clues?  I don't want to buy new hardware but no doubt that's the issue... graphics card incompatible now with PP??  All help gratefully received.

The problem still occurs in PP 15.1

Do I really need to create new project files?

You have not told us which version of macOS you have but try to update as much as that version of the operating system as it is updated with necessary drivers for the most recent versions. You could also try update Premiere Pro v15.1.
