MXF file corrupt at source

Hi,

I have searched forums and can't find a solution. I have about 24 .MXF files and only one is corrupt.

It imports into Premiere Pro, but only plays the first 30 seconds before it gives the "Error retrieving frame *** at time..." error for the rest of the clip. The clip is over 6 minutes long.

It does the same thing in VLC, only plays the first 30 seconds and then stops.

I have tried changing the file extension, no luck and can't seem to find a video repair tool for Mac that will work. Kernel is only for Windows and Treasured says that 95 %of the clip can be previewed so there's a good chance of recovery.

Please help, this is for a television production and it's one of the key interviews and I have a tight deadline.

My specs are:

iMac (27-inch, Late 2012)

MacOS X 10.15.7 Catalina

3,4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7

32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2 GB

Are you trying to read the file from a card or from a hard drive?  Always copy the file to a hard drive before working with it and backup the hard drive asap...

could be a problem with the drive rather than the file.  Have you tried copying the file to another drive?  Have you tried running diskutility: disk first aid on the drive?  Might be worthwhile getting DiskWarrior

https://www.alsoft.com/

It's a mac drive utility that mainly does one thing; fixes the file allocation table.  It will sometimes fix things that diskutility can't and I've worked with it probably for the last 15 years or so and it's saved my butt a number of times.

Post back and answer these questions in a systematic fashion.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. It's on a NAS server not the card and it's the only
file out of around 24 other MXF files that is corrupt. I have moved it to
the desktop and still plays only 30 seconds. The problem lies with the file
itself as every other MXF out of the thousands on the NAS works perfectly.

I need an app for mac that can repair it, even if it's just a free trial.
Kernel Video Repair would be perfect, but it only works on Windows.
