My H.264 exports are shorter in length than the original import and have audio sync issues

Suddenly I am having an issue with importing, trimming, then exporting MP4 files from my Panasonic GH5S which results in an exported final MP4 that is shorter than the original and the audio slips more and more towards the end of the file.  Seemed to work fine before.  I am using match source for the export.  I have tried every possible export setting.  When I export to MPEG2 it works fine, but H.264 leaves me with these slightly shorter video files.  The properties say the same length but when I look at the video in the editor on the timeline it is deffinately shorter.  One thing I notice is that all the exports say 30fps when done, even though I am matching the source and my export output overview indicates it will be 29.97.  Dying here. Hopefully I am just missing something super simple.  Please help if you can.

Here are the import properties:

Type: MPEG Movie
File Size: 1.42 GB
Image Size: 1920 x 1080
Frame Rate: 29.97
Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - Compressed - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
Total Duration: 00:10:08:00
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0
Alpha: None
Video Codec Type: MP4/MOV H.264 4:2:0

Here are the export properties:

Type: MPEG Movie
File Size: 783.30 MB
Image Size: 1920 x 1080
Frame Rate: 30.00
Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - Compressed - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
Total Duration: 00:10:08:00
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0
Alpha: None

Hi garyp61741550,

We're sorry about the poor experience. Are you still experiencing this issue? Also, could you please check if it's exporting properly in Premiere Pro v14.3.2?

Thanks,

Sumeet

So the file prior to import is 29.97, the sequence setting is 29.97, and the export is saying it will be at 29.97, but the output file is actually 30fps, not 29.97?

And is that when re-imported into Premiere?

The file prior to import is 29.97, the sequence setting is 29.97, and the
export is saying it will be at 29.97, but the output file is actually 30fps
when re-imported back into premier.

I spent some time with Adobe support and they duplicated the issue when
taking over my laptop remotely and repeating my steps. They then disabled
hardware acceleration of the rendering/encoding process and that solved the
problem by staying on software only. Only issue is that my export times
have now gone up by 3x. I didn't have this issue before, it seems to have
happened after an update to the software. At least I have a workaround.

Thanks for the update, Gary! That's all very useful to know.

What's the CPU you're using there, btw? Just for some more data points.
