New 15.0 Captions workflow missing 'Appearance' section

I loaded a new caption from an .srt file in 15.0, and everything looks great, except in the Essential Graphics panel, there is no Apperance section as described in documentation to adjust font size and appearance. Am  missing something?

The user guide shows this should be present:

You have a 708 closed caption. Font options are not available. 

Use "subtitles" (what were previously called "Open Captions") to have font options.
