Playback unstable to the point of being unusable

From time to time I've had an issue where you cannot stop a video playing, or sometimes start it. But it was very intermittent. With this recent update, it's happening all the time. I assemble something in a sequence, play it and then cannot stop it playing. It's completely killing my productivity. Restarted the app, restarted the PC countless times, but it keeps happening. Anyone else experiencing this, or better still found a solution?

Well spec'd Win 10 PC...

First, check your Preferences - Audio Hardware

make sure Default Input is set to None.

 

If that doesn't work, try resetting your preferences
