How is it that we all simply have corrupt projects, or preferences, or something with our cache files -- when the one common denominator is that there is a newly updated Premiere program. Prior to this update, we weren't having this problem.
There's too many of us having this same lagging issue for it to be corrupt files, or whatever. I just wish Adobe would recognize that there's an issue, and do something about it.
It's ironic that we're forced to use an older version of the program to make it work, and now Adobe wants to sue us for using an older version. It's actually quite comical.

Hey there Ron,
Sorry for the frustration. I'd love to help you.
How is it that we all simply have corrupt projects, or preferences, or something with our cache files -- when the one common denominator is that there is a newly updated Premiere program. Prior to this update, we weren't having this problem.
Everyone is not having this issue or there would be a real problem. This issue is one that you are having, not that it makes it any less painful. Sorry, man. Hope we can help.
If this is a new project, and having trouble compared to the previous version, system requirements may have been updated if you are having performance problems. In that case, updating hardware can help.
In other cases, an OS update or GPU update (the most frequent issue) might be called for.
Lastly, those with rather complex projects that update in the middle of that project can experience unexpected behavior like this.
If we had more information, it would be easier to make that determination.
Please give us your complete system details, including hardware, and OS. Please also give us the file format you're using and the kind of project you are working with. That would be tremendously helpful.
Thanks,
Kevin
