Hey Everyone

Built a brand new PC no other programs except Adobe creative cloud.

Sys configuration

AMD Ryzen 3900X

64 GB RAM

8 GB GPU - RTX 3060Ti

2 M.2 SSD - one for OS and programs - 2nd Media cache

4 TB external SSD - Source files

Win 10

Enabled all settings as to optimise performance.

However noticed, during editing when on playback system freezes, video plays ( 1/2 res)

CPU hits 100%

Renderer to Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration CUDA.

Whats is happening.

Thanks in advance

Some video codecs will bring a 12 core CPU to it's knees.

So this is what I did after multiple Youtube videos and troubleshooting guides, none worked.

I am not a pro, I did the following whetther it had impact or not - it worked. CPU does nt even hit 50% 🙂

1. Removed MSI softwares - the addons which comes in utilities

2. Deleted cache

3. Updated GPU driver - uninstall and fresh reinstall

4. Under preferences - Media - unticked "Automatically refresh growing files"

5. Reconnected the external drives and devices

6. Restarted!!!

I have almost an identical build except a lower GPU and I get the same issue. H.264 footage in 4k. The weird thing is my computer will be fine for 1-2 hours and then when it slows down like this, it happens constantly.
