Premiere crashes when replacing with AFX composition

I've (rather foolishly) updated to the latest bversions of AFX and Premiere. Now whenever I send a plate layer to After effects for further composition, it chashes both Premiere and After Effects. I send a lot of plates to after effects. I'm extremely frustrated. Can anyone assist? Cheers!
