Premiere Pro CC 2019 suddenly unusable

Hi there,

I have been working with Premiere Pro CC 2019 on my MacBook Pro (mid 2014, High Sierra) without any problems for a while. Now, suddenly, there are major lagging issues. The video doesn’t play at all, drops frames, and is basically frozen most of the time. The audio is choppy as well.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Premiere and have also done a clean reinstall of High Sierra. Still no improvement. The issue is worse with 4k material, which is to be expected, but even FHD projects are extremely choppy in playback.

Any help to fix this would be greatly appreciated.
