Computer Specs:

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9750H CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59 GHz

RAM: 16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable)

System type: 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor

Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 1660 Ti

Event:

While editing videos my pc will crash. Multiple times throughout the editing process. I will have nothing else running, just premiere pro and it will just crash the whole computer. I just don't understand why. This computer is definitely powerful enough to handle this application. This is also a fairly recent thing. Like within the past 4 months is when it really started happening a lot. Any help at all is greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

Sorry for the crash and thanks for the detailed post. However, we need more information to troubleshoot the issue properly.

Here's what you could try:

  1. Update your GPU diver to the latest from the manufacturer's website.
  2. Reset the preferences of Premiere Pro.

Let us know the results.

Thanks,

Nishu

Hello and thank you for the suggestions,

It does not crash with a particular project, it crashes on ALL projects. I don't see any crash reports from premier.

I updated my GPU driver and I reset preferences. It ended up crashing again the first time i tried editing again. The windows error code i get it
"VIDEO DXGKRNL FATAL ERROR"

Do you have any other suggestions on how to fix this. It ONLY happens when I use Premier Pro.

Thank you!

UPDATE:

I ran command prompt as administrator and did the following:

sfc/scannow

I restarted my computer after this and it SEEMS to be a fix but i am going to update after more use, in case it crashes still.

Sorry for the delayed response.

Glad to hear that you found a solution. Usually, it's the GPU driver that causes BSOD. If it happens again, try doing a clean installation of the GPU driver and installing OS updates.

Let us know if there are any other questions.

Thanks,

Nishu
