I'm really not sure how else to describe this. In NFL broadcasts, they put a yellow line on the field that only appears over a palette of green and brown colors (i.e., the grassy field) but not over the players and referees (another palette of white, black, blue, etc.).
I'm looking to do a low key version of this in one of my projects. I don't need all the special 3D models the NFL uses, just that enhancec chroma key effect.
Basically, my videonis of me talking and pointing to words on an ancient stone inscription. I want some of the words to be highlighted in red but I don't want the red to appear over my arm when I point at them. I want it to look as if the words are actually highlighted on the inscription itself, so that when my arm passes over it covers them.
Is there any prosumer/consumer way to do this or does this require much better technology?
I should also add that I am the only thing moving in the shot, so if there was also a way to isolate motion and convert the video to two layers, that might also work just fine so that what moves is in foreground and what doesn't move is another layer in background.

That is a job for Rotoscoping in After Effects.
