Premiere Pro play back...stuttering?

When i Import media shot on my Canon Rebel t6 into the Premeire it plays back with the audio stuttering and the motion of the video seems unnatural, I wouldnt call it lagging or stutter but it seems like the speed is off, like its too fast however, it is the same duration as the clip. played outside of Premeire ( VLC, Media player) it plays fine. any ideas?

Make sure Default Input in the Audio Hardware in the Preferences is set to No Input.
