Premiere proj with many files crashing my entire computer

I am trying to edit a vlog of around 37 iPhone videos (MOVs), each relatively short. Last night, my entire computer (MacBook Pro) crashed when I tried to import the files. Then it crashed again when I tried importing half. Then I imported in sections and it worked. I continued to edit my video, then my roaring computer crashed again. This morning I opened Premiere (no other apps open) and tried to make some simple edits. My computer crashed twice. I am up to date with Premiere and my MacOS. Is there something wrong with the current Premiere? I have edited vlogs before and did not have this problem.
