Preview lag in Video

Hello,

recently I encountered a preview lag problem, which makes it horrible to edit my videos. My regular  video length is between 4-12h and after I am finished with it, it's around 15 minutes. But at some point the original video starts lagging in the preview. It is NOT the preview window itself, it is more like the original video has something wrong, because when I skip back to the beginning of my project (which is like 2 minutes long and contains 1h of video material), my project is running completely fine.

Then I go back to the 2nd hour and it is lagging in the preview window. (Note: I have this problem with every video which is a little bit longer. Also I haven't changed anything in the record settings. This problem occured suddenly...)

Can someone help me?

- Sorry if I made language mistakes or presented something  unclear

You're going to need to post up your computer and software specs for people to help you. If you've recently updated Premiere, then you may need to downgrade to get your performance back.
