Re-assign center of an unevenly cropped clip

Cropping a clip off center cause the rotation to appear to be off-center - it’s still rotating on the un-cropped clip center. It also makes scaling and animations uneven. Is there any way to move the center registration so that a off-center cropped clip rotates on the new center?

I found a way to do it by nesting the clip but I'm working with other clips and that'll be cumbersome at best.

Use the 'Anchor Point' tool in your effects control panel to re-centre your cropped layer to the middle of the screen. Your rotations will now work from the new anchor point.
