There has to be enough room for all clips on all tracks to move. If that's not possible, Ripple Delete won't be available.

You can however avoid that by locking tracks that have no room to move and then ripple delete.

The audio could be stopping you from using Ripple Delete.

I've seen some strange things with ripple trim and ripple delete before, sometimes a simple reboot solves it, some are persistent with a project but go away if I import the project into a new project. Some just never go away. At the end of the day, I work around it.

For example, I had an audio clip on Track 3 recently that would not ripple when I ripple trimmed a clip on Track 1 (video) 4 minutes ahead of it on the timeline. However, when I performed the first trim, and then did another very slight trim (say, maybe 4 frames or 4 seconds) it suddenly rippled. No reason why that would happen (very simple timeline, nothing blocking the clips on any of the other tracks), but there it was anyway, trimming on the second try (with various attempts at different durations of trim, too).

I'm sure there is a situation or certain setup of my files and combination of edit points that is triggering this bug once in a while, but I don't know exactly what it could be or why it would happen. Haven't had time to really dig in and see what the commonalities are yet.

Along those lines, I had a faulty left-Ctrl key on an earlier laptop. Sometimes it worked, and sometimes it did not. My solution was just a new laptop.

"You can however avoid that by locking tracks that have no room to move and then ripple delete."

But then its no more a ripple delete but just a simple delete.

But i will see that thing about the room.

But how can there not be enough room for the clips that are after the clip you want to ripple delete?

They will simply move back to recover the empty space!

Not all clips necessarily come after. Some may be on top of, extending to the left of.

When I ripple-delete, all track-keyframes for " track volume" shift accordingly, as they should, to the new place in time.
However, all track-keyframes for the "panners" (Rt Lft, Front Rear, Center and LFE) they do not shift to the new place in time, in other words they remain in the same place as before.
What am I doing wrong??????

1-The  Keyframes that move are from the "Volume Tracks" (The issue does not concern Clip-keyframes)

2-All my tracks are unlocked

When I apply Ripple Delete:
Clips-and their "Clip Keyframes"-shift fine. (CLIPS ARE NOT THE PROBLEM)
Tracks and their "Track Keyframes" do not shift (with the exception of Volume Track*).

To summarize:
The issue is with the Tracks and not with the Clips:
Clips move fine.
Volume Track moves fine.
Right and Left Panner Track
do not shift
Front and Rear Panner Track
do not shift
Center Panner Track
do not shift
LFE Panner Track do not shift

Anyone knows what am i doing wrong? Please help. Is there a patch for this? A plug in that fixes the issue? I DO NOT UNDERSTAND.

To be honest, I'm surprised any track keyframes move.  I would not have expected them to.

I've not seen any Track Keyframes move at all. Maybe I missed some? That is why I always wait until the very end, to add those, and then charge for re-doing them, should the client change the edit.

Will have to look more closely at ALL of them next time,

Hi this is Barro THX, I thought I sent you the request I sent to Adobe. Can

you help me? Can anybody help?

Ripple Delete Should Shift Everything in the Project.

Common Terminology:

1-[Track-Keframes] = Keframes applied to Audio Tracks and not to Clips.

2-Audio Tracks for 5.1 projects = Have 1 Volume Track and 4 Panner Tracks.

Process:

When an Editor ripple-deletes, only the of the "Volume

Track" shift to the new place in time (as they should!).

Issue:

However, all of the "Panner Tracks" do not shift to the

new place in time. In other words they remain in the same place as before

while the rest shifted.

Summary:

When ripple delete:

Clips move fine.

Volume Track moves fine.

Right and Left Panner Track do not shift

Front and Rear Panner Track do not shift

Center Panner Track do not shift

LFE Panner Track do not shift

Feature request:

Shift the whole project and not “some of it”.

Detail Explanation:

Let's say that at TC 60 seconds you have a "lion roaring" coming from the

rear speakers.

One day you decide to remove 10 seconds of the movie at TC 30 seconds.

As it works now, when removing 10 seconds everything but the “Panners” WILL

SHIFT 10 seconds to the left.

So now the "lion roaring" Clip will be at TC 50 seconds but the keyframes

that made the roaring come from the rear speakers will continue to be at TC

60 seconds (and from that point on the whole project will be a mess)

If any editor moves a whole section, he or she will naturally want

everything to move as well to the new TIME.

I just finished a 2:15 film with more than 10,000 speaker placements. The

film was tested in the theaters and it was remarkable, specially the HD

quality and the 5.1. All thanks to Adobe Premier Pro.

At this moment I need to short my film to 2:00 hours and I will have to go

track-by-track, Panner-by-Panner, select all keyframes and shift them

manually.

If you have a patch I can test in the mean time, please contact me at

<mailto:carlobruno@rogers.com>carlobruno@rogers.com. ASAP

Given that CS4 is now out, it is very unlikely you will see any further changes/improvements/patches for CS3.  You're probably stuck with the way things are in this version.

The following worked for me in Adobe PR CC: Remove any nearby audio tracks. (Copy them to another place, so you can bring them back in later). Then delete them from their original position. Try to ripple delete again.
