Rotated Vertical Video's playback is laggy and impossible to edit

I shot my video vertically with a7iii for IG story. When I rotate the clips 90degree in Premiere to do the edit (cos original comes in landscape), playback becomes laggy and not editable.  Is this normal that Premiere can't handle such edit? If I render preview all is ok but I have long footage. It takes hours to render the entire thing before I even start editing.

Is there other way to edit in vertical mode without compromising the playback?

It seems not to have issue with smart phone vertical video which is already imported as vertical mode. Only when I use a7iii footage which comes in landscape mode and I apply rotate, everything goes wrong. Thank you for the help for this one!

Hey Miwa5FD3,

I encountered a similar issue and discovered that the optimal resolution lies in converting all video footage into proxies.

  1. Ensure you have Adobe Media Encoder installed.

2-In the left-bottom panel where your footage is, select all your videos.

3- Right-click and choose "Create Proxies."

4-Specify where you want the proxies to be located.

5- Activate the Toggle Proxies button. If you can't find it in the right-upper panel, add it using the button editor.

Enjoy!
