Smart Rendering Workflow Advice

Hi everyone, for the last year or so I've been using smart rendering to help me edit my videos and not have my laptop spontaneously combust

My workflow atm is

Use prelude to ingest footage and transcode to prores and also make a second copy of the original file to an external drive

edit as normal with the correct sequence settings.

Before export generate previews

export a master file as prores

re-encode the master file to h.264 before uploading.

Works well but is starting to take ages especially transcoding and preview generating as the vast majority of my footage is now shot in 4k.

I am going to be building a new editing workstation in the next 3 weeks and so my question is will is smart rendering still recommended?
Will I still get the benefits of a lossless master file to work with later?
Given my new PC will be vastly more powerful can I skip the preview generation step?

New PC spec is

Ryzen 5900x
64gb 3200 Ram

1tb NVME editing drive

1650 GPU (I want a 3060 so I'm saving my cash for that)

TIA
