Hi All, Has this ever happened to anyone? Some MP4 files can only be imported from my C drive. At first the mp4 files were stored in my D drive. An error prompt popped up when I tried importing the files, saying media coded not supported. Tried many troubleshoot, none work. For some reason, I had the idea to copy the mp4 files to my desktop (C drive) and tried importing again.
Now the files have no problem importing into premiere pro cc.
I find this super odd.
(I store non-app related stuff in D drive for organizing purposes)
Does anyone know why? or have any solutions for this issue?
Try resetting the preferences:
If that doesn't work, try resetting the Workspaces:
Reset a workspace
Reset the current workspace to return to its original, saved layout of panels.
1. Do one of the following:
• Click the Workspace menu icon and select Reset to Saved Layout.
• Choose Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout.
If that doesn't work, try Preferences > Audio Hardware and set Input to None.
If that doesn’t work, try updating or rolling back your graphics driver directly from the video card manufacturer’s site. If NVIDIA, do a clean install of the latest Studio Driver (NOT the Game Driver)
If that doesn't work, try creating a new project and import the old one into it.
Do the files work from an external drive?
Is your C drive a lot faster than the D?
Both my C and D drives are SSDs tho so I don't think one is faster than the other.
An external drive works.

I wonder if the file path is too long when using the D drive?
Try shortning the file name and/or move it to a folder closer to the root of the D drive.
Thank you so much. I tried moving the entire project folder closer to the root of D drive and it worked!
Though I have encountered a different issue.
One of my file name is waaay too long, hence premiere was unable to import (file path too long)
As I tried to rename the file, it instantly snaps back to the original (long) file name
Make sure Premiere Pro is closed when you rename the file.
Yes, everything is closed when I tried to rename.
OK I fixed it. this is so dumb.
I moved the mp4 file to my desktop and was able to rename it there.
