Sync settings fail

Hi.  I recently updated to Premiere Pro 12.0.0 (waiting on the newest version as I hear a lot of nightmare stories).  I'm working in Mac OS 10.12.6 Sierra.

After I was unable to import my 2017 settings into the 2018 version using the cloud, I was able to re-establish my settings by duplicating my "11.0" folder and renaming it "12.0" (after backing up the original "12.0" just in case.)  However, I'm now not able to sync (upload) my 2018 settings to the creative cloud).  I get the following error message:

"Syncing failed. There was an error updating the remote files. Please try to download your settings before doing uploads again."

Wha?  It sounds like it wants me to download settings instead of uploading them which will overwrite the current/good settings.

If I open an old project in the 2017 version of the software (2017.1.2) I am able to upload those settings without issue.

Is anyone else having this problem or have ideas for a solution?

Thanks!

I'm having the same problem and getting the same response when I try to Sync Settings. I don't know what to do. I can't find a safe way to "download" my settings without it overwriting my current one.

I'm not having an issue with this, and realistically aren't really knowledgeable on it. I use it of course, but ... not an expert on it. Vidya Sagar ... could you pop in here and help?

R Neil Haugen Any idea on this one. I work offline most of the time and keep my settings locally backed up on several drives in the event of a failure

Upon update to the latest version of CC apps, all my settings, preferences and workspaces disappeared.  When I tried to sync them down from the cloud, I got the error 'syncing failed'.  spent an hour on the phone with an outsourced CC specialist who could not provide an answer.  Instead he just stuck to his bible and script.  I hung up and went it on my own.

Here's what I've done since to try and fix the problem:

-Completely deleted all CC apps on my computer

-turned off desktop and document syncing on OS Mojave

-deleted all folders and files used by adobe on my machine

-ran maintenance and cache clearing utilities

-re-installed premiere pro, AME and photoshop

-turned on syncing.  The CC app shows that I have assets in the cloud.

-tried syncing down and I get the same dialog.  'syncing failed'

However, I can in fact sync up!  But when I try to sync down, it does not work.  Even after all the hassle I just went through.

What the hell is going on!?  So angry.  I have to reconstruct everything.  Settings, prefs, layouts, workspaces.  And since the CC won't sync down, I cannot apply them to my other computers.

Does anyone from Adobe know what the heck is going on?

The fact no one from Adobe has bothered to respond to this thread speaks volumes.

No, it just speaks to the primary design of this forum ... user to user with some assistance and moderation from Product Support staffers. Under previous PrPro management, engineers were normally not to "appear" here. Under Patrick Palmer, who used to head SpeedGrade, we've seen engineers popping in to help on a number of threads, but still ... that's not their primary job.

The majority of threads here never get a staffer response.

The way to get something directly to the attention of the engineers is using the UserVoice system. Any posts there go directly to the engineer's internal systems and also to the collated list of bugs/requests that is used by upper managers in determining budget & engineering staff levels.

That said, yea, it would be nice if we did get someone popping in here to help with this.

Windows or Mac? Often someone  with this is having permissions issues with certain folders. Sometimes it's an issue with preferences needing to be trashed ...

Mac. I have two versions of Premiere, 2020 (14.8.0) and 2021 (15.2.0). Since Premiere projects aren't backwards compatible, I sometimes hold onto the older version until I'm confident the new version is stable.

I used Sync Settings to upload my 2020 settings to my Creative Cloud and tried to Sync Settings download them to Premiere 2021. This was causing the Sync Settings issue.

What I ended up doing was going to...

/Users/.../Documents/Adobe/Premiere Pro/15.0/Profile-CreativeCloud-

...deleting all the settings in that folder, then copying the settings from my 14.0/Profile-CreativeCloud- folder. That fixed it. Now I can Sync Settings from Creative Cloud on Premiere 15.
