Text tool not working since 2020 update

When I try to use the text tool, nothing happens.

The focus goes away right after I clicked on the program window.

I can't even edit text that already exists.

MacOS 10.14.6

Premiere 14.0.0 (build 572)

Here's a workaround if you're stuck like me: create a new project and import your old project in it.

My solution: Copy the text-box, paste in another location. The tool works in the copy. Delete the original box, and move the copy to the original location.

I had a similar bug a few versions ago, and the "solution" was to resize the monitor panel just a little bit
