The playback on my video is slower than the video actually is?

It doesn't playback the video at it's actual speed, it plays at about half the actual speed and when I export it, it retains it's actual speed. I can change the playback speed with J and L but it's temporary and doesn't work properly, how do I change it to be permanently set at the correct speed.

It's the same dependant on anything that I open or even when I start a new file, the playback is always slower than it should be. I tried making a new file and dragged a random image onto the track to see if it would make any difference and even then the playback time is the same.

If that doesn't work,try resetting the preferences:

If that doesn't work, try resetting the Workspaces:
Reset a workspace
Reset the current workspace to return to its original, saved layout of panels.
1. Do one of the following:
• Click the Workspace menu icon and select Reset to Saved Layout.
• Choose Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout.

If that doesn't work, try Preferences > Audio Hardware and set Input to None.

If that doesn’t work, try updating or rolling back your graphics driver directly from the video card manufacturer’s site. If NVIDIA, do a clean install of the latest Studio Driver (NOT the Game Driver).

If that doesn't work, try creating a new project and import the old one into it.

Many users are having issues with VFR. If the file is variable frame rate, use Hand brake to convert to constant frame rate:
