The X with a red line in the sequence field

When you are transfering your clips from the project field to the sequence field 

what does the (X) with a red line through as your mouse indicator mean.......

Please check  the left of the V1 or A1 button in the timeline  and make sure that they are blue (selected) (or whatever track you'd like your clips to land on.
