Titles 'Copy and paste then alter' for next title (How to save without overwrite?)

Hello,

This should be easy to do but having issues, I want to create a title, then copy and paste it then change the information  in the new copied and pasted title, but it alters the previous title. Hope that makes sense. I have been trying to figure out how to save and copy the parameters but no luck.

Using the title tool made graphics?

Hold the Option (Alt) key down, click on the title, then drag it to a new location, and release the mouse. This will leave the old title where it was and create a new, independent title at the new location.

That did the trick! I do not know why copy and paste would not accomplish same thing, but oh well thankfully we have the forums! Thanks for fast reply and answer!

because copy and paste links the clip back to the same source title - so it you modify the copy, it is modifying the copy's source - and so all instances on the timeline that are derived from that source are changed.

When you use the Option (Alt) drag method, you are actually creating a new source clip. If you look in your Project Panel, you will see that the clip has been added. Any modification of that title only changes that title - by being a separate and distinct clip from the original, it modification does not change the original.

Now what if you wanted to keep the title clip exactly the same and used copy and paste into another sequences - but the shading is completely different once pasted? The motion keyframes and every other aspect is the same but the text shading is way off....
