Hi there 🙂

Since two days my tool window remains blocked, which means that I cannot select it and zoom/scale in there anymore. All other program features work properly. This happened all of a sudden and appears now in all my older film projects.

I work with CS6.

Thanks for your help.

Try resetting the preferences:
https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/faq-how-to-reset-trash-preferences-in-premiere-pro/td-p/...

If that doesn't work, try resetting the Workspaces:
Reset a workspace
Reset the current workspace to return to its original, saved layout of panels.
1. Do one of the following:
• Click the Workspace menu icon and select Reset to Saved Layout.
• Choose Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout.
from here:
https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/workspaces.html

If that doesn't work, try Preferences > Audio Hardware and set Input to None.

If that doesn’t work, try updating or rolling back your graphics driver directly from the video card manufacturer’s site.

If that doesn't work, try creating a new project and import the old one into it.

Hi Peru Bob - and thank you 🙂

In the meantime I have found our myself what happened:

My (stored) Workspace is unstable since a long time anyway - even after re-setting it always anew. This I cannot understand but I could live with.

The problematic blockage of the tool window is caused by the fact that the "effect controls" option has de-selected itself - and actually disappeared from my Workspace as a fixed panel. As soon as I select it again, it appears (as an undocked panel) and the tool windows de-blocks itself. Very strange indeed; I thought that at least selected effect controls would remain in the "system" and not just "abandon" the "Windows" option like this. I have never altered them so far. Therefore I expected the (Tool) "Window" option to be connected with the "Workspace" ones, once you have selected the preferences...

Incidentally, all the workspace options were still working properly, it was just impossible to select frames in the tool window in order to edit them.

But you are right: it has to do with the Workspace 🙂
