Unable to edit my timeline

When I hover my cursor over my timeline, my cursor changes into 2 arrows with a red line through them. Then if I click on a clip, it says "a low level exception has occured." I was editing my video yesterday just fine, closed the program, and now went to edit today and it's not working! Please help!
