Unable to move objects with arrow keys.

Anytime I move objects in premiere, I use the arrow keys to move it by pixels, which is very useful for me. But a while back after updating premiere pro, I haven't been able to do that anymore.

Even if the object is selected, and even if I click "motion" in the "effect controls" panel, it doesn't work. It instead moves to the next edit (or sometimes the next video frame), which I don't use, and I find a bit annoying. Especially when I'm trying to move an object, and instead goes to a different point in the timeline.

I've tried editing the keyboard shortcut settings, but that didn't do anything either.

I've gone by for a while not being able to do that. But is there any way I can fix that?

So I'm guessing I just have to wait for an update that fixes it?

Doesn't make a difference. Besides, I used to click position because then the layer's bounding box appears. The arrow keys just scrub the timeline even when I click the clip, motion, or position. This started recently for me, it didn't happen to me in April of 2021 like OP.

January 2023, issue still remains. Just got a new Macbook Pro M1 Max too at my corporate office. I honestly can't believe it's a bug to begin with. Is it a feature at this point like no keyboard moving allowed anymore?

Try this and let me know if it works.

  1. In the Effects Controls panel, click Motion to reveal a blue box around your layer in the Program Monitor.
  2. In the Program Monitor, click inside the blue box.
  3. Use the arrow keys to change the layer's Position.

This works for me in Premiere Pro version 23.3.0.

I too was having the same problems, BUT following these steps did allow me to, move the object one pixel at a time with arrow keys.

Already possible, if you set it up in the shortcuts:

  1.  Go to Edit > Keyboard shortcuts
  2.  Search for "Nudge" to see all the related commands.
  3.  Change the ones inside "Program Monitor Panel"

I chose Ctrl + ArrowKey and had to overwrite some other shortcuts that I never used.
