Unsqueezing anamorphic 4:3 footage in Premiere?

Client shot some footage at 3328 x 2496 4:3.

I want to unsqueeze it to use in a 1080p 16:9 sequence.

When I modify/intrepet footage to conform the footage it gives me the option to conform HD Anamorphic 1080 (1.333) but unfortunately this then distorts the image. Same with the other anamorphic setting it gives me as an option.

How should I got about unsqueezing this footage?

You're sure they used an anamorphic lens? What distortion do you see, is it too narrow or too wide?

Neil for the win.  Just checked with client and they did not use an anamorphic lens! That explains it.

Thanks Ann. Looks like I don't need to unsqueeze this footage after all. I thought they had shot with an anamorphic lens but just found out they didn't.
