Waves 12 vst3 plugins working poorly in PRP track mixer

I'm on PRP 14.9.0 build 52. Have had the same issue for the last 3 years at least.

Using waves plugins in the track mixer doesn't work at all. All knobs are unresponsive and you can only hear the changes and the see them when stopping playback. When playback is stopped the knobs become unresponsive again. Anyone having the same issue? Anyone who can recommend other plugins e.g. compressors / limiters / eqs that is comparable to waves in sound quality that actually WORK in the track mixer? Adobes built in plugons don't do it for me, sadly..
