When I click the start or end of a clip, usually by accident, a red "square bracket" appears.

What is it and what does it do?

Thanks for the question. The clip's edit point is merely selected. With the edit point selected, you can trim that edit point, making the clip longer or shorter. As an intermediate user, you can also use that red bracket in tandem with keyboard shortcuts so you can trim without physically clicking and dragging.

Try dragging to trim to start and see if it works for you. Come back with any questions.

Thank You,
Kevin
