Can't backup or recover lost projects

New Here ,
Jun 02, 2024 Jun 02, 2024

Rush crashes a lot.  I'm sure most people know that.  Usually, after a reboot, you open the app back up and start working on the project again...perhaps missing your last few edits that happened before the crash.

However, this week the experience was different.  After several crashes, I was getting better about exiting the program periodically, which I thought was somehow updating the project cache.  Unfortunately, after working for a week and near the end of my project, the app crashed my computer again...but this time, after relaunching the app, my project was nowhere to be found.

I was dumbfounded.  I started contacting support who told me that there is no project save/backup/recovery features.  They kept telling me the way to save my projects was to export them to video.  But after pointing out that an MP4 export is not the same as  project, the conceded that there's no way to save projects.  The cloud sync that used to protect my projects was discontiued.  And if my project is gone after a crash...there is nothing they can do to recover it.

That makes zero sense.  From the earliest days of computing, we had the ability to save files to protect ourselves from crashes.  Adobe somehow feels that this feature doesn't need to exist?  It's absolutely maddening.

I don't have that experience. I am sorry you're seeing that. I don't see much information about your system/device, your media, or your workflow. Any insight would help a lot.

I assume you are talking about Rush on the desktop, right? What are the details about your computer system? What are the CPU/GPU/RAM/VRAM and other specifics? It is also critical to find out everything possible about the media you are editing with. I advise downloading Media Info (freeware) and giving the community a screenshot of the results in "Tree View."

Sorry. It sounds like you lost work after that. I hope we can help so you don't experience crashes that much again.

Exiting the program is the only way to "Save" a project. That works here. I exit the program whenever I make a significant change.

Wow, that's weird. I'm not sure how to help you in that case. Are all your drives connected to the computer? Are you using any remote drives or something like Dropbox to save files? I'll let the product team know while you check that.

That response is not the best to hear in this terrible situation. Sorry about that.

I am unsure why the product team discontinued syncing and saving to Creative Cloud. As a Rush user, I am not too happy about these issues. On behalf of Adobe, I apologize.

Thanks and Take Care,
Kevin
