FAQ: Is Premiere Rush compatible with the ARC GPU?

New Here ,
Jan 24, 2025 Jan 24, 2025

Hi.

Like many others, it would seem, Premiere Rush keeps crashing on me. The only thing is it was working fine earlier today, and now I can't get it to stay open without crashing - it just says not responding for a bit and shuts down.

I'm wondering if it's because I added a few extra files to a particular project before shutting down earlier today, so it's overloaded? But right now I can't seem to open any project without it crashing.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program, and I've tried restarting the computer, all to no avail.

I have a fairly new HP laptop running Windows 11 and with Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, with Intel ARC graphics. I'm not an expert user, but I've used this program pretty successfully for a few years and this is the first major issue I've had with it. Please help!

I'm also kind of unimpressed that with the amount we pay for Adobe subscriptions, we can't go direct to a help centre or chat, but are relying on a user community instead. Or am I missing something really obvious?!

Hi @Kevin-Monahan,

Thanks for your reply. You were right - it was that Rush is not compatible with the ARC GPU. Which is kind of frustrating, because Rush has been such a nice, simple app to use, but this is forcing me to learn how to use Premiere Pro (which I know I should do, but have been avoiding).

On the issue of agent support, when I spoke to one of your team members, they were really helpful. But I didn't find it easy to access them. It seemed as though I was being pointed in many differe

Hi @christina_7343,

Thanks for the message and welcome to the forums. Sorry to hear you're crashing. My take is that Rush hasn't been updated for awhile, so newer hardware might not be working optimally with Rush. Premiere Pro, however, is supporting the new ARC GPU now.

To troubleshoot: Make sure that you have updated Rush and are running the latest version of the desktop app.  Update the GPU studio driver, as well. Please also make sure your media is supported. Any footage with variable frame rates might need to be converted if it is too far out of the frame rate spec for the project. You can use something like Shutter Encoder or even Handbrake to transcode your media. With Shutter Encoder, you can even choose to convert to ProRes LT, but standard H.264 will also work.

I'm not sure where you heard that your subscription didn't provide support. That's untrue. Contact us here. The chat pod is on the lower right. When an agent arrives on the chat, ask to be connected to the "video queue." That's my team.

I hope the advice helps you.

Thanks,
Kevin

Thanks again!

Hello @christina_7343,

Thanks for the message. Good to hear from you. As a fellow Rush user, I'm right there with you. It has not been updated for a long time and I really miss the sync with Creative Cloud feature. For iOS devices, you can check out Project Violet for a more updated app. I will let the team know about the GPU. Perhaps they could open up that support.

I'm glad you were able to reach the video queue but sorry for the hassle getting to them. I'll see if I can use my super powers to improve that experience somehow. Your persistence in trying to reach them is really appreciated, though, and I'm glad the experience went well there. I'll tell my team for you.

Well, back to the usual Sunday Fun Day stuff. I might go for a drive in the mountains and grab a burger. Hope your weekend is going well too.

Cheers,

Kevin
