Imported voice has been changed significantly

Hi!

I am using a free version of Adobe Premiere Rush 1.5.29 (Build 32) in Windows 10 Pro environment.

I recorded a video using Zoom.  The output file is in MP4.

When I play the file using Rush, it voice of the people is totally different from how they should sound during their webinar presentation.

How can we fix this problem?

Steven

Hey there, thanks for reaching out! This is a really interesting problem.

Premiere Rush is designed to work with footage from mobile devices & cameras, so we're seeing some issues when we try to edit footage that was screen-recorded or collected through a webcam through third-party software. It's a bit of a pain, but if your footage was not captured on a mobile device or a camera, the workaround is to transcode your footage before you import it into Rush.

Handbrake is a really simple transcoder

Hey Steven!

We're sorry about the trouble. Would you mind sharing more information about the issue?

  • Is it happening with a particular project?
  • Are you getting the same issue after exporting your video as well?

Usually, screen recorded footage has a variable frame rate. This might create some performance issues. You can refer to this article that shows some suggestions: https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/faq-issues-with-screen-recorded-footage-in-premiere-pro/...

Let us know if that helps.

Thanks,

Kartika

Hi Kartika,

Thank you for your message. Please find my answers below:
- It seems to me that the change in voice could be change in the pitch.
- It happens to all my MP4 files as the output from Zoom video conferencing.
- It happens when I listen to the source MP4 files from Zoom.

If you have any other suggestions to fix this please let me know.

Thanks!

When I used other video editing software like Hitfilm Express to read the MP4 files generated by Zoom, the voice is normal without this problem. In this case, I suppose the problem is caused by Adobe Premiere Rush which read the source MP4 files and changed the pitch of the speech. Thanks!

Yours sincerely,

Steven

Thanks for confirming it. Is it possible for you to capture a screen recording that exhibits the issue?

I can share it further to investigate.

Thanks for the link. Can you try the following?

  1. Launching Rush
  2. Go to the Edit menu > Preferences
  3. Set Audio Input to "None"
  4. Select "Manage Cache" > "Delete all cache files"
  5. Relaunch Rush

Let us know how it goes.

I'm having the same issue, and the recommendation below did not help. I use Premiere Rush regularly (nearly daily), and this is the first time this has happened.

Hope this helps, sorry for the frustration. We'll work on this!

Hi Caroline,

Wow, you are very knowledgeable. If I use it, can you tell me the steps
since my source file is in M4A format? Thanks!

I used the software called Any Video Converter to convert the source file
in MP4 format to the format for my iPhone 7. The result was that the pitch
sounds much better but there is additional noise that you can hear from the
sample I sent to you previously.

I'm having this exact problem 2 years later. I sound like a scratchy cartoon. Does Adobe have a fix for it?
