Importing Videos

Community Beginner ,
Oct 28, 2024 Oct 28, 2024

I recently purchased or upgraded to an iPhone Pro Max 16. My old one was a iPhone Pro Max 14. On my old phone I never had any problems importing videos however with my new phone I'm having trouble importing any videos. I went to the old phone Went to camera in settings and changed all the record videos settings to coincide with my new phone. Even though I did this, I'm still unable to import any videos to Premiere Rush. Every time I try, I only get a response that says "unsupported media type."  Is there anybody in here that is able to help me resolve this problem? I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi @John303169788af0,

Thanks for the bug report. This is a serious issue I have brought up with the team, and they are working on it now. If you would like to try out some of the new iPhone 16 formats, they are working on Project Violet, a new mobile video editing app on iOS. That may suit you even better than Rush, and it's free to check out. See if it could work for you as the engineers seek a solution for this issue. Sorry for the hassle.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hey,

This still hasn't been fixed. Ever since I switched to Iphone 16 Pro, I adjusted my settings to Most Compatible (H.264) and no HDR and it still gives me an error when importing footage. I film regular videos with Iphone and it's a pain to manually convert every single clip. Please fix this.

I have exactly the same problem.  I use my iphone regularly as a source for Adobe Premiere Elements 2021, but after a recent upgrade toi iPhone 16 I get a "Generic Error" (helpful!)

I have experimented with pretty much every video format/setting on the phone but no video I record can be imported to Premiere.  VERY annoying!

I saw some guidance to use 'HandBreak' to re-render your clips which did work - but this will be highly frustrating if I can no longer just import standard iPhone video.  Adobe.... Apple....  Please one of you fix this!!!

Benny, another way fix the format issue I just discovered is to go to your iMovie app, click create, upload video, then hit done.  That's it.

There’s another way to “reformat” a video which is quite simple. Go to your
iMovie app, click on create, upload video, then click done. That’s it.
Somehow this does the trick.

Can you give the "encode to .mp4" quick action a whirl on Adobe Express? https://www.adobe.com/express/feature/video/convert/mp4. Let me know if it works.

Thanks,

Kevin
