iPhone 16 4k or cinematic videos not compatible with Premiere Rush

Hi,

I just got the new IPhone 16 and I started filming 4k videos or cinematic videos. Once I upload them to Premiere Rush it shows Media import error. It says unsupported media type. 1 of 1 media could not be imported.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi @Ai3x@Azteca@scottr11880200@jennifer_7623@Allison34119006ob21, @Alexander35309527h4m6@sarsquirrel@amberhankins

HDR and Cinematic Mode are not supported. The standard video setting should work fine, though. On your iPhone, choose Settings > Camera > Record Video, and disable HDR Video and Spatial Audio. Let me know if you have any trouble with it.

Thanks,

Kevin

I simply turned off Spatial Audio and that seemed to resolve it...even with 4K resolutions.
Go to settings/camera and tap on Record Sound and switch from Spatial Audio to Stereo.

OK, @Kevin Doofenshmirtz 8964. Thanks for the notes. I know what you mean and feel like you do. I'll let the team know. You may want to convert the files to H.264 using Shutter Encoder on your desktop computer if you want to work with this footage now. I am sorry to suggest this, but I will soon be in the same boat. Sorry!

Cheers,
Kevin

C'mon, Adobe. I live down the stree from your HQ. I even did the photos for the mouse pads the San Jose Redevelopment Agency provided to all employees when your HQ buildings opened in Downtown SJ.  I have used Premiere Rush on iPad for making short videos I shot with my ProMax 13. Upgraded to the ProMax 16 a few weeks ago, and now can only use iMovie (not as robust) to put together videos on the iPad.  Pleaese, please get with the program and upgrade the software so that I can go back to easily editing videos in the app that I (used) to love.

Hello,

I'm facing the same issue as everyone on here using the Adobe rush app on the iPhone. The question is when will you be able to fix the issue at hand so that we users can rely on your apps and not any other app?

Thank you

same here - neither cinematic nor the regular video from my iPhone 16 won't upload to the app. Same as some of other people here I use the app version to edit quick videos, mostly for TikTok and instagram. Is there any timeline for fixing this issue? Do I have to cancel subscription and go to CapCut :(?

Hi @Roksana_Buczkowska,

Please try Project Violet on the App Store to see if it works for you. If so, something is going on with the newer formats and Rush. If that is the case, I'll escalate the issue with the team.

Thanks,
Kevin

I have HDR turned off, but it still won’t import any videos. I cancelled my subscription and found another editor. Very disappointed because I really prefer Rush.

Hi @Anthony340518027yc9@ayyepaulyy@Alexander35309527h4m6@christopher_9596@robertp47053368, and community,

You can avoid this in future clips, turn off HDR Video and Spatial Audio in camera settings.

Thanks for the test files. For existing clips, the format works OK on macOS desktop but not on the mobile version of Rush.

For the .mov-wrapped HEVC files. Once the extension is changed from .mov to .mp4, the files are imported to the mobile version without any trouble. You can do this manually, or with a batch renaming app. See if that workaround might work for you. It seems to be working here. You can also transcode existing clips, but the previous method would save a generation of quality.

In the meantime, I'll let the team know about this issue. Sorry for the workarounds.

Thanks,
Kevin

I'm using CapCut until a seamless solution has been found.   I don't think we should be paying for their subscription on top of having to perform  a manual work around?

I already let the team know about it. Sorry for the issue. You can also check out Projecr Violet, which should support the format right now.

Cinematic clips are not supported. Sorry about that. You can turn off those settings along with Spatial Audio in Camera Settings on the iOS device, and the clips should work OK.
