Premiere Rush won’t allow video or image import

Community Beginner ,
Nov 23, 2024 Nov 23, 2024

Since getting a new phone (iPhone 16 pro max) I cannot add any videos or photos taken on the device into Rush.
I have not changed any formats or anything, they are just standard images and videos taken on my phone.
I get a 'unsupported media type' error.

HI @joe_wigz,

Thanks for writing in. The new phones shoot HDR by default which is not supported by Rush. You can change to SDR formats in the Settings on your iPhone. See if that works for you.

Cheers,
Kevin

Also...I cannot amend the file format on phone to see if that helps, no option on iPhone!

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

I had the same issue and fixed it by using an online tool to convert videos and photos to standard formats like MP4 or JPEG before importing them. Try this and I hope it gets fixed!

Other thing is that converting the files often resolves these compatibility issues. I've also noticed some apps like that are especially used for video sharing and streaming such Freecine app,  also handle a wide range of video formats really well. It’s interesting how they manage to include features for seamless playback and editing across devices. Hopefully, more tools become as versatile in the future!

Thanks, was hoping I wouldn't have to do that! Surely Rush should work seamlessly with standard videos and photos from an iPhone!?

A little bit late to the topic but for me also switching the recording sound option from spatial to stereo did the trick after fuzzing around for a bit.
Hope this helps!
