Trying to upgrade free Rush app to paid, but it fails

I think because I have my Google Play store set to require me to manually authorize all purchases, when I click to pay, the app pops up that the "Payment Has Failed, try again." There doesn't seem to be a way around this. How can I pay to upgrade my app?? It shouldn't be this difficult.
