If I know my project is going to have vertical footage from an iPhone and 720p footage, should i start the project off with 720 to keep the frame size throughout the project and then introduce different media sizes. I understand there will black borders on some footage...

thanks

Which phone is the footage from? Is the video output from the phone 4K? You can choose vertical, horizontal or square format without any problem with 4K video and use the editing tools to size the media to eliminate the black borders if you don't want them. The quality of image made with the newer phones will hold up when resizing.

The point is that you shouldn't be sacrificing quality to fit the format you want the final video to be.
