Premiere Rush CC freezing

When I am editing a video in Rush, and I use the playback module, after a few minutes, the playback stops working. I am unable to use the buttons to navigate to previous/next edit points, previous/next frames, and play/pause. The application hangs, then is unresponsive so I force quit.

 

I have tried un-installing and re-installing the software, as well as restarting my computer. The application and my system are both up to date. I use macOS High Sierra 10.13.6. I also tried starting a new project from scratch and the same thing happened.

 

Please help! I've been able to export two other videos before this started happening while editing a third video project.
