apostrophe s not rendering

All,

I'm using RoboHelp 7 to generate FlashHelp. I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2. Wherever my Word file has an apostrophe s, when RoboHelp generates FlashHelp, it removes the apostrophe, the s, and the subsequent space, so for example, "CAPTAIN'S AUTHORITY" in Word comes out CAPTAINAUTHORITY in FlashHelp.

How do I address this?

Hello,

I'm having the exact same problem except the output is in WinHelp 4 format - I was using Robohelp for Word version 7, and came across the following release note for 7.0.2:

"Special character such as apostrophe doesn’t get rendered properly in output generated by RHW."

I thought, great, that will fix it!  I upgraded from 7 to 7.0.1 to 7.0.2 and then 7.0.3, but the output is exactly the same.

uzq, did you ever find a solution for this?  Does anyone else know why this problem is mentioned in the 7.0.2 release notes but not fixed?

Thanks

Tyler

I notice you are using RH for Word. I wonder if you are using smart quotes in Word? They cause a lot of problems in HTML. Stick to straight quotes.

Hi Peter,

I had never heard of this smart quotes feature but once I turned it off and regenerated the help file, it fixed the problem for at least one apostrophe without me having to retype it.  I'm not sure if just switching the option automatically changed all of them or if I have to manually redo each apostrophe or each file, but at least I have something to work with.  Thanks!

You'll probably need to do a find and replace.
