As an attempt to collect user feedback, I want to create a "Was this helpful?" button, with just 2 options - Yes/No. I don't have a database ready to receive the input, so I'd just like each button to simply send an email to me when it is clicked. Maybe

I'm thinking of creating something like this:

      Yes    No

Yes button - when user presses this button it should send me an email with the wordings "A user found this page [URL] helpful "

No button - when user presses this button it should send me an email with the wordings "A user found this page [URL] unhelpful "

Is it possible to do this in RoboHelp 8?

I've explored RoboHelp Insert > HTML > Form but couldn't get to the end result.

Can anyone help?

Hi Abhi,

Thanks for your response. Good to know that it's on your road map.

Just a quick question:

I know you can set up forms and add submit button in RoboHelp HTML and use either 'Get' or  'Post' method to send the user input for processing. But what I'd like to know is :

  • Is it possible to take the user input from these Forms and store it in a SharePoint list or a Textfile using a VBScript/Javascript?
  • If yes, could you please post a code snippet that takes user input in the above example (i.e. Was this helpful? Yes/No) and stores it in a SharePoint list/Text file?

Thanks in advance.

Hello again

Likely possible but is way beyond what RoboHelp will allow you to easily accomplish. Doing this steps out of the realm of RoboHelp and squarely into javascript development land.

If that's where you are headed, you need a new hat!

Hey Rick,

Thanks for your quick response. Would be nice if you can point me to some place where I can get started.

I mean, which is the best place/resource to start with?
