Best practice: avoiding inline styling/formatting (RH 2019, new UI)

Contributor ,

Hi, Everyone.

In RH 2019, new UI, I'm trying to avoid inline formatting/styling as a best practice. But if I use the buttons in the toolbar to create, say, an unordered bullet list or a table, is that in-line styling? I ask because when I look at the code view, I don't see <span> tags around them.

Thank you!

Selecting a style is not inline styling. You can block inline styling in Preferences I think, if not in Project Settings.

Thanks for clearing that up for me, Peter.

And great suggestion to block inline styling. I'll check that out.

Thank you!

You may need to create some classes such as .red to apply red to a paragraph.

I see. Makes sense if I block inline styling, I'll need some alternate way of performing common actions like changing text to red.

Thank you!

Regarding naming, I would suggest thinking of the purpose for the styling and giving a name that reflects that. Otherwise in future you might change your red text to blue, but still be applying a style called "red". (Been there, done that. 😛  )

e.g FieldName or LabelText, rather than Bold, TextSample, rather than Italic.

(Sometimes it is *really* hard to find a good name. 🙂  )
