Can I expand a topic dropdown from a mini-toc?

Users are liking <h2>  headings as dropdowns in some longer topics. I would like to use the Mini-Toc link to not only target the <h2> but open the dropdown. (Users have asked why this doesn't happen.) A search does a pretty good job of delivering this. Is there some class or a javascript I can add to the links?

My guess at Adobe's logic here is the idea of a dropdown is to hide the content unless the user specifically wants to see it. Not all will. In the minitoc, they might want to see the heading but not necessarily the dropdown content. Effectively the point of the dropdown would be lost.
