Can I remove the left navigation pane?

Is there a way of permanently hiding the left hand navigation pane so that it looks less like a help system?

I am trying to find a way of producing a simple 3 topic project to act as a small support site for a new product. my employer doesn't have the resources to build a product website with integrated support area so I am looking into using RH and webhelp instead as I'm used to using it for creating help.
