I am new to RH. I downloaded the trial versions of RH9 and FM10. I'm floundering around trying to learn on the fly. I was trying test the ability to prepare PDFs from the topics. I found my way to "Printed Documentation" in the Single Source Layouts pod. When I try to prepare either a PDF or DOC file, it crashes RH, saying "Failed to build title page". I tried this from two of the sample projects as well as one of my own topic pages.
Why is this happening and how do I fix it? Is other software required to export PDF/DOC? Do I have to have certain versions of Office installed? What about Acrobat?
Thank you!

Welcome to our community
Can't help you with FrameMaker, but creating printed docs from RoboHelp does require Microsoft Word to be installed. So if you don't have Micrsoft Word installed there will likely be issues trying to created printed docs.
I believe the PDF output takes a side trip through Microsoft Word first. So if you can't create a PDF it also seems to suggest you don't have Word installed.

Rick,
Thanks for your help. I do have Word installed, but admittedly it's an older version (2002 I think).
However, I can prepare a PDF using the "Create PDF for Review" just fine. So it seems odd that I can't do the same through "Printed Documentation". Makes me very nervous about purchasing this since we will depend heavily on PDF versions of the documentation we build.

Hello again
The fact Word is an older version shouldn't be an issue. Additionally, it's worth noting that when you create a PDF for review, Word isn't used to create the PDF as it is when you create Printed Docs.
Out of curiosity, why would you choose a tool such as RoboHelp if your plan is to produce PDF? RoboHelp is typically used for on-line delivery in an HTML based output.
Cheers... Rick

Robohelp will let us incorporate user feedback and commenting plus searchable content (across the entire documentation). Additionally, we can share content more easily as well as integrate with translation resources. Our client needs to be able to provide a printed version of the most recent content on demand, which is not as easy to do managing Framemaker files. At least that's the thinking!
