Cannot Open Hyperlink in Browser - Error Received

New Here ,

I am attempting to use a hyperlink within RH 7 for Word to launch a browser window. I've set up the Hotspot to point to Display in Browser, but when I test it in the output file I receive the error "An error exists in this Help file. Contact your application vendor for an updated Help file. (1024)." The link works great when I set it to Display in WinHelp. I've also modified by default browser between Firefox & IE 7, but the error occurs no matter the setting. I appreciate any help.

I'm still encountering the same problem as above. If anyone has any thoughts, I would really appreciate hearing them. This is the last piece of a big project that I'd love to get off my desk! Thank you in advance.

Hi Josh

Wow, RoboHelp for Word. I think what you are seeing is an ever shrinking minority of users here. Hence the dearth of information.

What is the output you are testing in? WebHelp, FlashHelp, WinHelp, HTML Help? If it's WinHelp, I think there is a special DLL or maybe two that you need to register in order to make it work.

Cheers... Rick

I suspected the user base was dwindling. Fortunately this is our last project in RH Word. I am using a WinHelp output. Do you happen to know the DLLs in question? Do they need to be registered on every machine that accesses the help file or just the one where I compile?

Thank you, Rick.

Hi again Josh

Admittedly rooting around in far distant memory here.

I seem to recall that it happened only on the development PC. Something like amending the Project file so it had some sort of "RegisterRoutine" function as part of the startup. You may wish to crack open the help for it and see if there are hints offered there.

Cheers... Rick

Hi, Josh,

You may need to install the file Inetwh32.dll in the folder %windir%\system or %windir%\system32 on your users' machines. See this article in the Adobe Knowledge Base for more information:

Inet WinHelp macro

As an alternative, you might try using the ExecFile (EF) macro, which doesn't require any DLL at all. For example:

www.adobe.com!EF(`www.adobe.com')
